Ninebot Z10 — My Short Review of the EUC

Overview

In this review, we will explore the key aspects of the Ninebot Z10, focusing on power, battery and charging, foot pads, aesthetics and build quality, and finally, a conclusion.

Power

The Ninebot Z10 is equipped with a robust 1800W motor. This impressive power allows the 18” electric unicycle to tackle inclines of up to 25 degrees with ease. The acceleration is swift, and while the firmware limits the top speed to 45 km/h, the Z10 still delivers excellent performance in terms of power and responsiveness.

Battery & Charging

The Z10 features a 995Wh battery, which is somewhat lacking for extended rides. On a full charge, the range is approximately 50-60 km (90 km advertised), which falls short compared to newer EUCs that offer around 100 km. The included 2-amp charger requires a lengthy 10 hours to fully recharge the battery, limiting the Z10’s daily range to its single charge capacity.

Foot Pads

The original foot pads are suitable for short rides on smooth asphalt but leave much to be desired in terms of grip, especially in adverse weather conditions. There are aftermarket options available for around 2500 SEK that significantly improve the riding experience. Investing in these alternatives is advisable for those planning to use the Z10 frequently.

Aesthetics & Build Quality

The Z10 stands out with its sleek and compact design. Its wide tire is a distinctive feature, and the headlight and tail light enhance visibility and safety. The build quality feels solid and durable, with only minor scratches after years of use. However, the handle is a notable flaw; it often gets stuck, making it inconvenient to open and close.

Conclusion

The Ninebot Z10 boasts a powerful motor, solid build quality, and IP54 water resistance, making it a reliable city commuter. However, the limited battery capacity and lengthy charging time are significant drawbacks. Despite these limitations, the Z10 remains a good choice for short-distance urban commuting.
