Hi! 👋
Recently I bought a Segways Ninebot Z10 and I want to share my personal opinion and open discussion about it. Please consider that this is my first ever unicycle and I cannot compare it with something else on the market, but I will be honest and tell you what I think so far about it and maybe help you if you are considering buying this wheel.
Before buying I saw a lot of YouTube videos stating that this wheel is insecure on the roads and newer ones are better, well I cannot really compare it, but this one is surely not dangerous as described after learning it for a while, I can do almost everything as someone with some other wheel, except for driving it backwards 😅 (yet to be learned).
Battery
When I bought this wheel I used to avoid charging it over ~ 80% and I never felt the real battery capacity of the wheel which equals to 995Wh Li-ion battery. Now after 2 weeks I charge it somehow as a normal user to 100% and I really appreciate how this wheel can take me from one part of the city to another and still have ~ 50% battery left. The only downside though is charging time which equals to approximately 10 hours.
Example for readers from Gothenburg:
Biskopsgården to Slotskogen which approximates 10 kilometres = 80% battery charge left! (consider crossing over Älvsborgsbron and driver's weight)
Power
The wheel has a 1800W motor which is powerful enough to climb a 25 degrees climb or get you up to 45 km/h. I have no problem crossing mopeds nor crossing Hisingsbron (4,5% climb) with maximal speed. Compared to traditional 50cc moped, this wheel delivers more torque because of it's electric motor and feels more powerful because of it's weight. It feels like having a small beast under my feet 😁.
Durability
With few scratches on the wheel it is still in good condition. The wheel comes with protective rubber in the box which buyer has to install by himself. The glue on it is 3M and rubbers are specifically formed in order to fit on different parts. I didn't had any huge accidents and the wheel is still holding tight. The only issue that I had recently is that the tire would blowout a little bit over time but in order to inspect it I would have to open the whole EUC which is really much job to do.
Driving Experience
At the beginning I had pain in my feet when driving long relations, but even if it's better now, I can still feel tired after driving for a long time. Without any modifications on the wheel it is sure good driving experience but installation of a pads would be a good recommendation and using different shoes can help feel more comfortable while driving.
Summary
Overall the Ninebot Z10 is for sure a good wheel. With long lasting battery and a powerful motor it is a perfect city commuter. It looks like no other wheel on the market, it has a good app for mobile and really wide tire. Before driving in the city make sure to drive neighbourhood small roads to get the feeling of the wheel. Make sure to have a good helmet and hope to see you around! 😁
